Alex Krizhevsky

Creator of AlexNet (2012), the convolutional neural network that won the ImageNet competition by a massive margin and sparked the modern deep learning revolution. Built AlexNet with Ilya Sutskever under Geoffrey Hinton at the University of Toronto. The AlexNet paper is one of the most cited in all of computer science. Transitioned from research to venture capital — now a Venture Partner at Two Bear Capital investing in early-stage AI and frontier tech startups. AlexNet source code was donated to the Computer History Museum in 2024.
